IC 4th Wall The Doctor has every book that every and will be written in time and space in his Tardis library. There are also a lot of references to British Literature in particular; Harry Potter see also, Mary Poppins, Agartha Christi, Lord of The Rings, Frankenstein novels, The Time Machine, etc

Unless you're an OC book character or canon-specific book (example Hogwarts A History) The Doctor won't know those.

Basically, do what is right for your character's universe and based on the age of your character determine which face of The Doctor they might know.

I.E. someone in the 1970's in their canon would know the Scarf Doctor aka Doctor 4. Whereas, someone in 2006 would know Ten's Doctor. If your character is from Earth, it's far game that your character could have watched Doctor Who. This is the other player's call.
